Step 1: Register for a REDCap Account

This guide explains how to register for a REDCap account at the University of Oldenburg.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • [x] A valid University of Oldenburg account (university ID in format abcd1234)
  • [x] Affiliation with Faculty VI (Medicine and Health Sciences)

Registration Process

REDCap access at the University of Oldenburg is managed by the Servicestelle Forschungsdatenmanagement (FDM).

1. Send a Request Email

Request access by sending an informal email to fdm@uol.de:

To: fdm@uol.de
Subject: REDCap Access Request

Dear FDM Team,

I would like to request access to the REDCap development environment.

My university ID: abcd1234
Purpose: [Brief description of your research project]

Thank you!

Best regards,
[Your Name]

Development Environment First

You will initially receive access to the development server (redcapdev.uol.de) where you can test REDCap and decide if it's suitable for your project.

2. Wait for Activation

  • The FDM team will process your request
  • You will be activated as a user on the development environment
  • You'll receive a confirmation email with login instructions

3. Access REDCap

Once activated, you can access:
